Pärnu mud baths celebrated its 150-year anniversary in 1988. The documentary observes the consequences of the extensive development of health centers and industry during the post-war period in the resort town of Pärnu. That has been in acute opposition with the actual needs of the town. The water of Pärnu Bay is hopelessly contaminated, the social-economical development of the town has fallen behind for about ten years.

This contradiction clearly expresses the abyss between the man and eternal nature. Nature becomes sublime, the human being becomes an ant. However, human creation becomes monumental. Time won't move and always stays the same. TIme passes by and we are hurrying through time.

This documentary is a critical analysis of the severe negative consequences of the centrally planned agricultural policy. A policy which imposes a new technology without taking into account the specific needs and conditions of the farming-land in Estonia.

Expressively bold and critical publicistic documentary about the failure of the Socialist production system in the Soviet agriculture. Agricultural machines for the non-black soil zone are non-functional, with low quality and there are not eough spare parts. Agricultural workers and officials share their thoughts in the documentary. The poor technical equipment makes the work process hard and is bad for the ploughman's health. The acutely critical documentary caused scandalous feedback in the entire Soviet Union.
