The plot of Silent Land is a tragedy. The son is in great pain and obsessed with pushing these trauma derived negative emotions of his mother’s suicide away. He succeeds but with dire consequences to his mind and that propels him to his undoing. The core is loss and grief. The son is unable to deal with the loss of his mother and thus obsessively resorts to extreme methods in an attempt to push away his negative emotions instead of dealing with them.
