Documentary introduces the abandoned buildings constructed in Estonia by the Soviet army - the buildings took about one tenth of the territory of Estonia.

The opening scene of the documentary marks the territories in Estonia where the military objects dating back to the era of Soviet occupation were located. Usually these were built in beautiful natural places near lakes and rivers. According to 1991, about 1565 military objects (covering the area of about 871 km2) were used by the Soviet army in Estonia that makes 2% of the whole territory of the state. Today most buildings have been destructed by accidental looters and natural forces.

"EVALD’S ACRE” is a loving portrait of the Estonian pastor and teacher Evald Saag and his wife Emmi. Occupying armies have come from East and West, but Evald’s acre remains a clearing of peace in the Estonian forest. Yet this peace is not the inactivity of old age; there is always work to be done; the hard tasks of daily survival and the teacher’s vocation of giving wisdom to the young. Evald and Emmi have never been silenced and will never retire. Their life’s sport has been to playfully resist every attempt to stop them from working.

Estonian Film Database (EFDB)

The database is maintained by NGO Estonian Film Database. It was opened on 12.12.2012 and is meant for providing information about the whole Estonian film heritage from 1912. We plan fully complete it by 2025 but already now full and partial entries for about 20 000 films, 27 000 filmmakers, and more than 200 production companies could be retrieved in Estonian and partly in English. Translation of film descriptions and keywords into English is ongoing but due to the scarcity of resources quite a slow process. Read more detailed overview.
