Meelis Muhu's documentary tells the story of the Soviet monument - the Bronze Soldier called Alyosha that was located in central Tallinn. The events around the monument culminated due to the dislocation of the monument in April 2007 and the following events called the Bronze Night when massive rioting and civil disorder took place on the streets of Tallinn.

After Estonia regained its independence in 1991, most of the Soviet monuments were taken down. The monument called the Bronze Soldier in the central Tallinn, however, remained to its place. People have called the monument "Alyosha" - the statue depicting a Red Army soldier was erected in 1947 in honour of the memory of Soviet soldiers killed in the World War II. For Estonian nationalists the monument was the symbol of Soviet occupation. Estonian Film Database (EFDB)

The database is maintained by NGO Estonian Film Database. It was opened on 12.12.2012 and is meant for providing information about the whole Estonian film heritage from 1912. We plan fully complete it by 2025 but already now full and partial entries for about 20 000 films, 27 000 filmmakers, and more than 200 production companies could be retrieved in Estonian and partly in English. Translation of film descriptions and keywords into English is ongoing but due to the scarcity of resources quite a slow process. Read more detailed overview.
