Aleksander, an old gentleman, maintains a blooming garden surrounding his old house in a sleepy resort town. Karl, his grandson, spends the summer with him and learns about the ways of the nature.
A widow made three clay pots. The pots wanted to help the woman: one brought clothes, the other brought robbers’ loot, and the third brought a hunter who sat down to rest. The woman and the hunter made a home together. They had plenty of money and goods. In the clay pots, they boiled porridge.
There are two people who wake up in the same bed one morning, and neither of them has a clue who the other is. Viivi would like to run away and the man is sleeping like a log. Unlike Viivi and Andu themselves, the viewers know both very well. They know that Viivi has the worst day in her life and that Andu is a dweeb, but not completely hopeless; a rather good-hearted man.
The film depicts two different worlds - man made and natural - opposites both in terms of content and form.
An old man and an old woman got into a tiff. The old man went fishing and did not want to go home. In response to the old woman’s prayers, the god Nishkepaz rotted the old man’s nets. He returned home, but the wife lamented, „We have nothing to eat!“ The old man replied, „We’ve got fish in the barn, let’s sell it and buy bread, salt and mead!“
„Atop a mountain“ is an adaption from Elviira Mihhaolovna’s novel „Prügimäel“ Film is about middle-aged woman named Maria who has reached a dead end in her life, and looks for an exit.

Estonian Film Database (EFDB)
The database is maintained by NGO Estonian Film Database. It was opened on 12.12.2012 and is meant for providing information about the whole Estonian film heritage from 1912. We plan fully complete it by 2025 but already now full and partial entries for about 20 000 films, 27 000 filmmakers, and more than 200 production companies could be retrieved in Estonian and partly in English. Translation of film descriptions and keywords into English is ongoing but due to the scarcity of resources quite a slow process. Read more detailed overview.
