The main subject of the history documentary is Patarei Prison - a unique architectural and historical building.

Tower, Bastille, Sing-Sing, Butyrka are all ominous buildings with rich history. The first Republic of Estonia that was established in February 1918 founded a central prison (that people started to call simply "Patarei") in the buildings of a former cannon battery of a sea fortress. During various eras both criminals and visionaries have been imprisoned here. Recollections of those who have been prisoners due to their worldview include the pieces of Estonian and European history in 20th century.

He was a member of crew working with 377 cinema newsreels "Soviet Estonia"; as a director he has completed 60 documentaries. Semjon Školnikovi meenutuste vahele on pikitud rohkelt arhiivikaadreid, mis annavad pildi operaatorist endast kui ka nõukogude ajastust, mida ta filmis.
