Tom Abrams

Biography

  • Tom Abrams is an award-winning screenwriter and director whose work has been recognized in both the United States and Europe, including an Academy Award Nomination, an Emmy Award, and prizes at the Berlin, Cannes, Montreal and Karlovy Vary Film Festivals, among others. A working screenwriter for more than 25 years, Tom has written for Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema, Sony, and Universal Pictures. His most recently produced projects are the WWII spy thriller O-2, for Nafta Films (Estonia, 2020), the horror film NAILS, for Fantastic Films (Ireland, 2017), and the historical drama THE ETERNAL ROAD for Mattila Productions (Finland, 2017).

    Tom was a founding tutor for ‘North By Northwest’ an acclaimed European film development workshop (1995-2005), and is currently Co-Head of Studies for ‘ScriptEast’ (2006–2021) a development workshop for films from Eastern and Central Europe. ‘ScriptEast’ has helped develop 40 produced feature films in the last 15 years, with 11 more in pre-production. Tom is a tenured professor in the John Wells Division of Writing for Film & Television at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts and is a film consultant who’s worked in more than 15 countries around the world.
