Original title in Estonian:Sume mälestus

Students film | Drama Duration 14:40

Plot summary

Teresa Juksaar’s short film is about childhood friends who all remember the incident that happened years ago differently.

After returning from abroad, Pääsu (Kristiin Räägel) meets with childhood friends to reminisce about the last time she visited them. As they recall their memories, it becomes clear that her friends, now married Atko (Simo Andre Kadastu) and Virge (Karmel Naudre), remember the events differently. Throughout the evening, they oscillate between the past and present. Pääsu discovers that her fond memory of sitting in a tree with Atko and throwing innocent branches had ended with Atko's grandmother losing an eye. Atko cannot believe that Pääsu doesn’t remember what happened. Pääsu stays at the table with Atko's grandmother and Virge, feeling burdened by guilt and seeking forgiveness from Virge. However, the viewer is taken to Virge's memory, where it is revealed that it was actually Virge who had made the fateful throw out of jealousy towards Pääsu and Atko. Virge had intended to hit Pääsu and Atko, but Atko's grandmother became the unfortunate victim. Virge cannot confess to Pääsu or Atko's grandmother and allows Pääsu to take the blame.
