The Unfamiliars (2022)

After the death of her beloved son Eero who was a successful actor, Veera (60) is forced to give his empty apartment to her daughter, Marianne (40). But before she can hand it over, she requires her daughter’s boyfriend Jaan (38) to document the apartment exactly as it was when her son was still living.
As the group moves through the empty house, it is clear that they are still haunted by their relationships to the dead man - to the point of becoming blinded to how that tension is threatening to destroy the family.
Veera sees Marianne as a failure and keeps ignoring her needs while singing praises on Eero’s achievements. Jaan is hung up on his past affair with Eero as he unknowingly flaunts it in Marianne’s face. And Marianne, in between it all, is torn between grief for her brother and resentment towards a ghost that still steals from her. In the end, they all need to learn how to accept the past and make decisions for the present.
