One, no one (2022)

Joosep Ehasalu’s thesis documentary plunges the filmmaker into his own personal chaos and searches for ways to get out of there. All in the form of an audiovisual diary.

The film holds fragments from the past and the present. From the time the filmmaker lived in Berlin, but also current time (2022 winter/spring), where the Ukrainian war has just erupted. The filmmaker travels inwards and outwards. Visiting diary entries from the past, but externally revisiting Berlin, a city where he once used to live. He also meets his father. The eclectic set of images is completed with a lone banjo player under a tree.
