Retrospect (2022)

Aksel (Egert Kadastu) is an insomniac who has been seeing the same dream for 259 nights. He seeks help from hypnosis sessions to unriddle the odd aspect of the dream: he sees it from a stranger's point of view. Unable to find the missing pieces, Aksel meets the protagonist of the dream who turns out to be a 40-year-old mother, Marie (Elina Purde). After convincing her to join him on the research, Marie is introduced to Aksel's theory: the dream is a portrayal of his past-life.
Together they visit the psychiatrist, where Marie is influenced by the hypnosis and starts seeing the dream's missing pieces. Aksel drags Marie around the city trying to prove their reincarnation while both try to resist the impulses of their nascent romance, meanwhile Marie's husband Kaarel has been keeping a close eye on the two.
Aksel brings Marie to their final destination: the forest where the dream takes place. Together they unravel the mystery of the dream which leads back hundreds of years, however the two are interrupted by Kaarel who has been part of the narrative all along. He puts the young insomniac down for the long sleep as we travel with Aksel to his next life.
