Plot summary

Teresa Juksaar's short film ''Peaceful Night'' is about a young girl who is starting her independent life.

Milla, a 21-year-old woman, moves out of her childhood home to get away from a difficult relationship with her mother and to become independent. On a day when Milla leaves home, the house is as messy as it typically is. No one pays attention to her. Mother is cooking in the kitchen but does not talk to Milla. Before Milla leaves, she looks to her mother, but she has turned her back to Milla. When Milla leaves, mother looks at Milla. In the apartment Milla thinks that she has found peace and silence. When she starts to unpack, she realizes that the silence is unsettling. She turns on the radio, but soon the neighbours begin to argue. Milla turns the music louder but that results in a knock at her door.
When Milla can not fall asleep in silence, she turns the radio on once again. Neighbours start arguing. Milla listens to them and it reminds her of her own parents. She begins to talk along and finally speaks of everything that was left unsaid at home. At the end she finds a jar of jam that her mother had put into her box when she was packing. Surrounded by loud noises, Milla is finally able to fall asleep.
