Before (2017)

As Lee’s home is the furthest from the school, she needs to walk through the darkness to the side of the main road and wait for a bus that picks her up first. The bus then zig-zags on narrow, uneven roads to open the door to other children, who have to get to school the same way. These children need to be precisely on time as the bus won’t wait.
The friendly bus-driver knows the route, the children and their families as the back of his hand. He is proud of his job. He should be, as he has willingly taken this responsibility to get these children to the school safe.
This film portrays the stillness that these mornings carry within themselves, that evolves into a readiness for the day ahead and is broken as soon as the little people enter the school.
