War over the Flying Squirrel (2018)

The new flying squirrel habitats were declared protected in late 2016. The decision took 8 years to make.
The restrictions affect 68 private landowners and 23 businesses.
It is not known when the state will compensate for the restrictions.
250 populated localities would ensure survival of the flying squirrel in Estonia.
The 2017 monitoring registered only 49.
