Being in Tune (2013)

Original title (in Estonian): "Olemise lainel"

Students film Duration 28:40

Plot summary

What do we consider as an art? Who is artist and what is his role in society? Is the process of making art a special state of mind or rather an everyday activity? How do we recognise that we are "in tune" or in the flow of creative inspiration? These are some of the important (sub)questions this film tries to explore.
In general, it is a short documentary about people who are creating "art". Its idea is to make us think about the meaning and values of art as a process, rather than an object. It concerns anybody who likes to create something or involve in some creation process - whether it is painting pictures, making music, acting, or practicing martial arts. ¨Olemise lainel¨ (¨Being in tune¨) touches the idea of tuning our mind into a relaxing and creative frequency, so called alpha waves, which state of mind can be called in common language as ¨being in tune¨. Is it a different mind state or not, for sure people have their own view points and experiences with the so called ¨artistic side¨ of their being. For some creating art is a way of life, for some it can be a occasional spontaneous moment; for some it is their creation, for some it is rather a mediating process. Who is artist and what is this creative energy, or whether how we can use this energy or creative tuning in our every day life - this is the issue which brought us to the journey.
The film is based on interviews with different people and artists.
