Grandpa (2013)

Student Ilze Lagzdina’s short documentary is about her grandfather who is anxiously waiting for the ice fishing season to arrive.

The first thing 83 year old man does in the winter after waking up is to check the weather conditions. Then follows the judgement if the weather conditions are appropriate for the ice fishing. Edgar lives alone and he is eager to open the ice fishing season. He has a friend with whom they talk on phone every day. This time Edgar is trying to convince him to go ice scouting. His friend is not willing to join him saying that the ice is not there yet and they have to wait till next month. Now it is Edgar’s choice. Will he listen to his friend and wait or will he go and follow his intuition?
