Plot summary

Son of the Reaper is a young adult living in the afterlife with his parents - personifications of Death. He doesn’t want to be who he is – a Grim Reaper, instead dreaming about the world of the living. For feeling obliged and being pressured by his father – the hero of the underworld with an endless list of „reapings” – he finally goes for the first time to do the job. At the same time in the real world a girl is acting a suicide attempt to touch the limits of existence. By the weird ritual she is setting herself apart from the shallow and mediocre people who are surrounding her in the uninspiring reality of life. Inexperienced and naïve, Reaper’s son sees the girl and makes his first reaping, mistaking the fake attempt for the real thing. Now, being stuck in the afterlife together, they teach each other about their worlds. The girl’s soul would soon be handed over to Death but the Son of the Reaper Man has started to regret his first reap. The young Reaper and the girl are starting to realize that there is another reason they met this way.  The young Reaper decides to help the girl to get back to life by bargaining with Death. Seeing no other option, he trades his own position as a Reaper for the girl’s life. He asks Death to become a living person in hopes to meet with the girl in life. However, when she goes to present her own wish to Death, she asks to become a Reaper herself so they could exist together in the afterlife. Wishing for the best, they become separated. It will now take a lifetime till they meet again. The young Reaper Man, now a mortal, must wait for his natural death - the one who now bares the face of his beloved.
