The Kaplinski System
Jaan Kaplinski is today’s most translated Estonian poet and thinker. First published in the Soviet Union during the golden sixties for Estonian, Kaplinski’s sharp, free-minded poems and writings have been internationally recognised among today’s leading voices of Eastern European poetry.
The Kaplinski System, through an intimate portrait of Jaan Kaplinski, will question the place and role of the poet and his creativity under Soviet censorship, in present-day Estonia and, to a larger extent, Europe.
This portrait will follow one day in the life of the writer, from dawn until dusk. Conversations and questions raised along the day will lead to various interviews, events from everyday life, and poetic sequences.
