Viesturs Kairish was born in 1971 in Riga. He graduated from the Latvian Academy of Culture as a theatre and film director. He has staged a number of theatre productions as well as operas, and currently he holds the position of artistic director of the Daile theatre in Riga. Aside from his work on the theatre stage, Viestur Kairish has written and directed 5 fiction films and around 10 documentaries.
