Dearest Ghost (2024)

Grieving filmmaker talks to her Ghost in the midst of changing nature scenery.

The film begins in late summer. As the first sun rays appear through morning fog, a farewell is mixed with a fair dose of denial. Suddenly the wave of full realisation hits and it gets rainy. Autumn brings anxious restlessness followed by depressive stillness. The passage of time is too loud, too fast, too evident. Everything leaves early, impossible to grasp. A spider catches a meal and it all slows down. Now it feels calmer, yet just as suffocating. Black contours of rocks and birds contrast the quiet sea. The sun sets. The moon rises. It subtly brings in a new sense of wonder with some room to breathe. In the night, it starts to snow. Finally, the filmmaker comes to accept her Ghost in all its pain and beauty.
