Kristen Aigro’s short fiction film reflects the role of society in a time when far right politicians gain popularity. The film asks, what is the responsibility of the ordinary citizen?
Throughout one week we observe customers at a coffee shop, who go there to meet their friends, to study or simply enjoy a cup of coffee. In parallel, on a tv screen we can see that a far-right politician is about to win elections. None of the cafe customers pay any attention to him. One day two of the customers are in a homophobic conflict. While this is an unpleasant disruption, life goes on. When the politician wins elections, his supporters feel empowered and a cafe guest who belongs to a minority group is brutally beaten in front of everyone and no one intervenes, allowing him to be attacked.
