Circus (2022)

Joosep Ehasalu’s third semester student short documentary ponders on what it means to be an artist, through a painting by his grandfather.

At the center of the film is a painting by Ants Ehasalu called “Game at the arena”, painted by the filmmaker's grandfather in 73. It has haunted him since childhood. Being quite a bit older, he faces the painting once more and examines what emotions the painting stirs up in him all these years later.
