The Farewell (2022)

A story of a relationship between family’s differ- ent generations, their closeness and vulnerability.

In the morning of her best friend’s funeral, an elderly lady (Ülle Toming) finds her car covered in bird shit. Desperate and scared to go alone, she demands her granddaughter (Maarja Johanna Mägi) to go with her to a car wash. The car wash has an error and they get stuck in the small space for hours. After several tries to escape, they face each other and their problems in life. The granddaughter has recently experienced an assault and the grandmother has just been diagnosed with a serious disease. After coming to terms with their vulnerability and giving support to each other, the car wash finally opens, and they drive out having gained a new friend.
