Uibu Talu (2021)

Students film | Drama Duration 24:16

Plot summary

The story will open with gentle and comfortable, romantic and almost fable-like images of a father and a son who have embarked on a journey into the unknown. In the beginning, we hope to communicate a relationship of tough love between the son and the father. The father is his son’s North which he looks up to, a man without a weakness.
When they enter the home of Kristof, night falls upon them, and the mysterious and peaceful wide images of the woods will be replaced by harsher close ups, which dominate the two long and hefty dialogue sequences of the film. Reality pushes in on Mart as he sees his father in a new light in front of his close to monstrous grandfather. All that he wants to do is to escape, but he cannot.
When Mart wakes up on the foggy morning he sees his father and grandfather in a drunken slumber sleep. The images are wide and still again, tempo slows down. When he sees his father on his grandfather’s rocking chair, he is close to tears. He walks to the casket and opens it to see the remains of a dog. Maybe his grandfather has a sentimental side as well? He finishes what the two men couldn’t do, gets the job done.
