The African Mother (2011)

Kris Haamer’s documentary is a story of São Tomé and Príncipe painter Alex, who prepares for his first exibition.

It starts with Alex-Keller. The author was captivated by his painting, the content, his reflection of  São Tomé and Príncipe. The way he sees São Tomé. There was one painting that was perticularly memorable – «The African Mother». She became mother just being 14 years old, and Alex want to make this stop. Film shows how Alex prepares for his first exibition. He visits his close friends painters and they show their own works as well, telling about what inspires them the most.
