Title in Estonian: Pronksiöö: Vene mäss Tallinnas

Documentary Duration 45:00

Sünopsis

The monument of the Bronze Soldier in Tõnismägi, Tallinn denoted the symbol of occupation for half a century for Estonian people, but for the Russian-speaking local residents the monument marked the victory over fascism. In April 2007 the Prime Minister Andrus Ansip and the government of the Republic of Estonia decided to move the Bronze Soldier monument from central Tallinn to the Defence Forces military cemetery due to the fact that the statue had become a source of tension. As a result, a violent chaos bursted out in Tallinn. The documentary by Kanal 2 gives an overview about the events related to the Bronze Soldier that happened during the past two years as well as restores the two historical violent nights called "The Bronze Night" with the help of the commentaries by people who were part of the events.
