Why do the stars fall (1987)

The sincere documentary about the heads of collective farms in Soviet Estonia who have worked hard without being afraid of risk and responsibility. However, due to the pressure by the Communist Party, its authorities envy and out-dated legislation they had to pay for it with their positions, health and often with their lives. Vello Tire, head of Viiratsi pig farm, died at the age of 51; Tomas Sooaluste, the head of Gagarin Sovkhoz Tech School, died at the age of 43; Georg Suurmets, the head of Energia collective farm, became disabled. The author of the documentary, Märt Müür, discusses the subjects of life and work, responsibility and acknowledgement together with these men and their close ones, while asking: "Why do the stars fall?"
