Sünopsis

Johan Eichfeld (1893–1989) was an Estonian biologist, agricultural scientist and statesman; doctor of agriculture (1936), member of the Academy of Sciences of Estonian SSR (1946) and president (1950-1968).
Filmmakers observe Johan Eichfeld's work and life when Johan is ninety years old. The elderly academician is still active, working in his rose garden, talking to the students of the school in Väätsa parish that is also Johan's birth place. The documentary talks about Eichfeld's life and career: founding a polar experimental station in Kola Peninsula; scientific research in soil and swamp science; breeding several types of roses; his activities as the President of the Academy of Sciences of Estonian SSR etc. Old photographs and chronicle excerpts have been used in the documentary.
