The National Library of Estonia (1998)

The documentary gives an exhaustive overview about the history, development and modern possibilities of the Estonian National Library. Today, the library's objective is to collect and preserve national literature as well as to document information of cultural history; it serves as a public library consisting of three and a half million documents as well as a library for Estonian Parliament in order to guarantee the information service for Riigikogu, Estonian government and other constitutional institutions. It is also a scientific library providing necessary information in the fields of humanitarian and social sciences. The library forms the centre for librarians and functions as a cultural centre.
