Grandma, meet Mary

At the center of the short film we find an ordinary family struggling with generational differences about what it means to love and live a full life. The main character Virve (Tiina Mälberg), a middle-aged perfectionist, has gone to great lengths to make sure her mother’s (Ines Aru) jubilee would be a perfectly traditional family celebration. Her plans are interrupted by her niece Silvia (Grete Konksi) who arrives to the party with her same-sex partner Mary (Jaanika Arum).
Grandma and grandpa are clueless and welcome Mary to the table because they remember her as a childhood friend of their granddaughter.
