Art of Righteous (2020)

The protagonists of the film are “extras”, or the actors in minor background roles in film, TV and advertising. Folks who are always present if there’s yet another casting for a background part or mass scene. Work obligations or personal life are not to become obstacles to participating at a shoot! It is a sacred obligation of being there and being chosen. They make up a distinct “brotherhood”, having known each other and filmmakers for a while, almost being a part of this mysterious “movie crowd”. The central characters - Toomas, Andres, Jürjo, Taavo and Maarja - are all locally recognised hobby actors. All of them really want to act. What is it that drives people to want to act?
We follow our characters on professional shoots. We get a peek into the behind the scenes of film-advertising-TV shoots. We learn about our main characters through their everyday work. They decide to make their own movie. We follow this road from the initial idea to the premiere. What are the obstacles they encounter making their own movie, how do they open up as persons, what is it giving them?
