Maxim (2012)

Maxim is a hedonistic, sexual libertine and immoral man who engages in sinful pleasures as a source of happiness. Maxim is the host of the town’s most infamous lavish orgies where many young maidens are seduced and plucked from their innocence. To many Maxim is considered the devil in disguise. It is not until Phillip, the father of one of these young maidens decides to confront Maxim that his life of sin is disrupted. Maxim is called to a duel by Phillip to defend his daughter’s honor. Maxim is a social allegory to the dangers of primitive social behavior and how democracy is a threat when not regulated, as mankind is likely to self-destruct because of its own savage instincts. The story’s intention is to provoke its audience to consider which maxim’s are in their opinion, the right ones.
