Bronze night: The Russian riot in Tallinn

The monument of the Bronze Soldier in Tõnismägi, Tallinn denoted the symbol of occupation for half a century for Estonian people, but for the Russian-speaking local residents the monument marked the victory over fascism. In April 2007 the Prime Minister Andrus Ansip and the government of the Republic of Estonia decided to move the Bronze Soldier monument from central Tallinn to the Defence Forces military cemetery due to the fact that the statue had become a source of tension.
