His Majesty`s Warship (2001)

His Majesty´s Warship talks about The Estonian War of Independence and the activities of the British Royal Navy in the Gulf of Finland during the war years 1918-1919. The film uses the letters that a British sailor wrote home to his wife from battle. Russian historian Vitali Pirogov and British historian Terry Charman from the Imperial War Museum in London give interviews from the forts and harbor of Kronstadt. Charman says: „We wanted to re-establish democratic rule in Russia. Thus, we also had to deal with Estonians who were fighting for their independence.“ This is fairly open confession, asi s that of Neal Asherson, a journalist for „The Observer“: „ …to be honest, the role that the British forces played in gaining independence for this country is completely unknown here. We know nothing about it.“
