The filmmakers who observe the daily life in Hiiumaa island get the overview about local problems of rural life from Udo Mäll, head of the local forest management unit. But the focus is on three local craftsmen –
Aaser Erik who makes small carts; Aadu Kõrm who makes various items for horses (a maker of bits, spurs, and metal mountings for bridles and saddles) in his workshop; and Evald Hanikat who weaves baskets. These are men who express their regret that there won't be anyone whom they can leave their skills and tools to.
