Bad Ass Merike (2024)

Original title: Vinge mutt

Documentary Duration 27:30

Sünopsis

Between the Southern Estonian hills, there is a Tobra stable where trainer Merike Markus has 27 riding horses and 70 children to look after. Merike has one hand and low demands on her own well-being, but a big soul and high demands on the humanity of children and the friendliness of horses. On the surface, life in the Tobra stable ticks like a peaceful everyday cycle, but it's not like that. Every day brings something new. Through Merike, who herself lives through the lives of all his students, trainees, every meeting in training begins with what has happened in the life of a young person in the meantime. Both joy and sadness move through Merike.
On the one side, we stay with Merike in the stable throughout the year, through autumn, winter, spring, summer. We see Merike’s day and life, we get to know her values. And with the daily life of the stable.
As a counterpoint, away from the stable, we are with our supporting characters. We see the teenage Kadri's desire for her horse. We are present at little Rasmus's first race. But in general, we still let the stable life itself dictate the events. Structurally, Merike, the protagonist, is the center and focal point of the film. All the events and twists of the film are through her or relate directly to her.
