Spit in My Face (2023)

Original title: Sülita mulle näkku

Documentary Duration 60:00

Sünopsis

Kristjan Svirgsden and Edvard Oja, old cinema classics, forgotten rivals, have kept an eye on each other’s work their whole life. Criticism towards a colleague has fed the men and kept them alive. And keeping alive is not just a phrase in their case. Today, their health is ruined. The two invalids on the shortlist of the Grim Reaper have not forgotten each other’s existence and are carefully following their adversary’s fate. Alas, there are have been no news for a while. And what news could you expect from a person in recluse? An obituary, if any. The demise of the competitor would be welcome, it would be shame to go first, it would be surrendering. But no obituary has been published. So you have to grind on. Until his heart attack, Kristjan was condescending towards the idea of visiting Eedi: ‘Why should I bother the cripple, sugar is not melting in his mouth anymore. Jumping on his stilts like a goat, can’t bring a beer bottle on his mouth. He’s not a worthy opponent.’ However, while recovering from heart attack in the hospital, Kristjan changes his mind. Suddenly, he is in hurry to go to Eedi straight from the hospital, to see the old competitor and settle the scores, as there may be no tomorrow. Eedi is full of surprise when Kristjan appears at his window. A moment later, ashes are stirred and the old spark bursts into flame. The old feud has not been forgotten and the men go on from the point they stopped last time. Although the last time was 14 years ago. It turns out that nothing has been forgotten in these years.
