David Samoylov (1920 – 1990), one of the greatest Russian poets of the 2nd half of the 20th century, had spent the final years of his life in Estonia’s seaside town Parnu. It was here, in Estonia, where he wrote his best poems. It was here, in a cosy house on Toominga street, where he could fully express his feelings through words. Samoylov’s poetry reflects existential drama and his intuitive perception of the world. The poet captured life’s beauty and harmony and the town of Parnu served his inspiration.
