August Rei was a long-term deputy of the President of the Republic of Estonia in exile. His funeral service is held in Gustaf Vasa Church, Stockholm. Funeral service is held by bishop Johannes Oskar Lauri and minister of church Konrad Veem. The ashes of the deceased are cremated in the crematory of Woodland Cemetery, Stockholm. Among the grievers there are Tõnis Kint, Heinrich Mark, Arvo Horm, Elmar Kandre, Birger Nerman, Enno Penno, Bernhard Mäelo, Therese Rei, Hilja Rei and others.
