Press Service of Latviansʹ Community in Toronto (1991)

January 14, 1991 in the press service of Toronto Latvian community. Representative gives interview to the TV channel CBC News about the situation in Riga. A big demonstration is being organized. For organizing of Latvian people's front Tautas Fronte the plan is to hold a support endorsement to the Latvian and Lithuanian government with 600 000 participants. About 8000 people supporting the empire took part in the Intermovement's demonstration on January 9th. Since the fear of military intervention is in the air, barricades are being built in Riga. Interview with reporter Regina from CBC News tackles several aspects of the struggle for independence of the Baltic States. Due to the troubled political situation in Latvia, the press service worker receives a phone call and will also check the work done in the neighbouring office.
