Sünopsis

Memorial church service of expatriate Latvians in Canada in Toronto St. Andrew's Church for commemorating the victims on barricades in January 1991. The service starts with the prayers held by the archbishop and church ministers in front of the altar. Future president of the Republic of Latvia, Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga (simultaneous translation), holds a speech. She sharply criticizes Gorbachev's politics that enabled to turn armed forces against peaceful civilians that is contrary to the international law. Five people were killed in the shooting, among them a young cameraman Andris Slapinš. Panorama views of the people in church. Latvian archbishop is holding a speech. Wreaths are placed in front of the altar for commemorating the victims; with the victims' names on the ribbons. Moment of silence, then singing while being accompanied by the organ.
