Sünopsis

The Estonian National Male Choir sang in Canada to the foreign Estonian audience for the first time in spring 1989. This concert has been recorded by Edgar Väär, video consists of different sections. The film depicts festive Palm Sunday religious ceremony that is held in Toronto church where the National Male Choir performs the song by Gustav Ernesaks "How dark will your country remain" and the Heroic Choral Poem by Villem Kapp, conducted by Olev Oja. Roman Toi is accompanying on the organ. The audience in the church rises after this performance and the Bishop of the EELC Karl Raudsepp blesses the congregation, everyone is singing a religious song from song sheets. After this song, a woman in national costume hands over flowers to Gustav Ernesaks's spouse and to Gustav Ernesaks. Then the choir leaves the stage, being accompanied by the applause and organ playing. The film shows organ player Roman Toi and the audience leaves the church, being accompanied by organ music.
