Estonian-Latvian-Lithuanian co-production documentary about the residents of the coastal villages of Northern Estonia, the ancient coastal law and folklore related to the Latvian steamboat Rasma. The documentary has optimistic and funny undertone while introducing specific episodes from cultural history.

Documentary portrays Estonians through one of the most ancient traditions of coastal villages – the coastal law. According to the legend, a Latvian steamboat Rasma collided with an underwater mine on the coast of Northern Estonia on July 5, 1941. The captain decided to direct the shop to the banks of Mohn island in order to save the passengers and a child, as well as the equipment of sewing factory evacuated from Riga, Husqvarna bicycles, grain and flour. The main principle of Johannes Käis (1885–1950) is that "instead of teaching children that they must know facts, they should learn how to search for knowledge and how to find it, and to grow them intellectually independent people". Käis's works were forbidden to the mid-1960s during the Soviet era and he was accused for propagating bourgeois-nationalist views. The documentary that has been commissioned by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Estonia gives an overview about Johannes Käis's life; his students and relatives share their memories and recollections; educational historians appreciate Käis's valuable life's work.
