Short film produced as a collaboration between Estonia and France about the attempt of a man named Victor living under a totalitarian regime to escape to a free world.

Victor, a man living under a totalitarian regime, sees his monotonous life disrupted by a strange message from his girlfriend whom he thought had disappeared. Anke has managed to flee to a free country and urges him to join her as soon as possible. Victor starts dreaming of a different world, and despite his doubts makes the decision to flee in his turn. It will be for him the beginning of a journey filled with traps, in which any unusual action on his part can lead to disaster.

The film shows Konstantin Päts, Johan Laidoner, Adolf Hitler, Jossif Stalin, Vyatcheslav Molotov, Henri Philippe Petain, Johannes Vares-Barbarus, Johannes Lauristin, Olga Lauristin, Neeme Ruus and many others. The film is a continuation of the first film of Karasyov's film trilogy - "Precedessor" depicting the life of Viktor Kingissepp.

Propaganda documentary about the Estonians who left Estonia during the World War II to the West and later returned to their homeland.

It has been estimated that about 90 thousand Estonians fleed to the West from Estonia during the World War II. More than 21 thousand Estonians repatriated or returned to their homeland. Among these people were very few those who returned voluntarily – most were forced to go back to "the red paradise" by democratic countries in the West. The filmmakers meet several Estonians who have returned to their homeland.

Estonian Film Database (EFDB)

The database is maintained by NGO Estonian Film Database. It was opened on 12.12.2012 and is meant for providing information about the whole Estonian film heritage from 1912. We plan fully complete it by 2025 but already now full and partial entries for about 20 000 films, 27 000 filmmakers, and more than 200 production companies could be retrieved in Estonian and partly in English. Translation of film descriptions and keywords into English is ongoing but due to the scarcity of resources quite a slow process. Read more detailed overview.
