Appearances captures the experience and small occurrences among youngsters who spend their free time in the urban space of wintery Tallinn, seemingly doing nothing.

At the seashore and in the city center of Tallinn, youngsters are meeting to hang out. Hidden behind park bushes or on the stage of a bench, they chat and move, lighthearted or absorbed in thought. They appear to and escape these places – words dropped, smoke exhaled. A patient look reveals everyday appearances that one is used to encounter from distance as fragility, tension, as tenderness, joy. Yet, as soon as we mean to know what we see, it is gone already – crumbled into a fleeting memory, no more than a sensation.
