The Tallinn - Kaliningrad bus crosses three borders during one night. Estonian - Latvian, Latvian - Lithuanian and Lithuanian - Russian. It rides on the territories of four countries. The reason for the film about this bus is, at the very lest, because things are not as they were some times ago (during the USSR) and will not be like that in the not so distant future (when the three Baltic States will be in the EU).

The bus line from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, to the Russian city of Kaliningrad was opened decades ago, at the time when Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and also Russia were part of the Soviet Union — a society where there were no intra-country borders. In May 2004 the Baltic States joined the European Union and now, the Tallinn-Kaliningrad bus has to make three border crossings during one night — Estonia-Latvia, Latvia-Lithuania and Lithuania-Russia. Estonian Film Database (EFDB)

The database is maintained by NGO Estonian Film Database. It was opened on 12.12.2012 and is meant for providing information about the whole Estonian film heritage from 1912. We plan fully complete it by 2025 but already now full and partial entries for about 20 000 films, 27 000 filmmakers, and more than 200 production companies could be retrieved in Estonian and partly in English. Translation of film descriptions and keywords into English is ongoing but due to the scarcity of resources quite a slow process. Read more detailed overview.
