The compendious reportage documentary was born during the Phosporite War (1987-1988) caused by the new phosporite mines to be founded in West-Viru county and West-Kabala based on the workforce from Russia. The Phosphorite War was a public protest movement in Estonian contemporary history against the Soviet regime and its hostile policies towards environment.
