During six hours thousands of tourists from the American cruise ship are being introduced to the city of Tallinn - they are provided with a short city tour enriched by subjective commentaries of local guides and some souvenirs.

Huge cruise ships come to Tallinn in summer, each one carrying thousands of tourists, mostly from the United States. They stay in Tallinn just for 6 hours. Endless lines of bus-drivers, tour-guides and tour-managers await them in the harbour. The cruisers rush through the main sightseeing locations, eat out in town and board on the ship again. Tallinn was just another pit-stop on their long route. The pier is filled with waving customer servants exhausted from the day’s tense work. “6 Hours” tells a humorous story about one summer day in one of the Eastern European town called Tallinn.

Literary historian Sergei Issakov, translator David Samoilov, poet and actor Juhan Viiding, semiotician and literary historian Juri Lotman share their thoughts about Estonian and Russian literature. Jüri Krjukov recites Severyanin's poetry in Russian. He also reads the voiceover of the film in Estonian.

Hurrying people have been filmed in fast motion, the frames are mingled with more peaceful and better observable images of nature also filmed in fast motion. This contradiction clearly expresses the abyss between the man and eternal nature. Nature becomes sublime, the human being becomes an ant. However, human creation becomes monumental. Time won't move and always stays the same. TIme passes by and we are hurrying through time.
