Semyon Shkolnikov (b. 1918), cameraman of film chronicles and documentaries, started his career in the field of filmmaking as a war front cameraman. In 1948 he started to work for Tallinn Kinostuudio (later known as Tallinnfilm), Estonia. He was a member of crew working with 377 cinema newsreels "Soviet Estonia"; as a director he has completed 60 documentaries. Semjon Školnikovi meenutuste vahele on pikitud rohkelt arhiivikaadreid, mis annavad pildi operaatorist endast kui ka nõukogude ajastust, mida ta filmis.

From the tribunes, Stalin was addressed as "the great friend of Estonian nation", nevertheless, for the majority of Estonian Stalin's name embodied the violence and lies that hit Estonia. This influenced all areas of life and no-one was left untouched by the terror. The documentary breakrs the myth about the joint resistance of Estonian nation to the foreign power and gives the warning that there is the possibility that similar things could happen again.
