The year is 1989. The Soviet Union is collapsing, the Baltic Chain has just happened. Simultaneously with the falling of the Berlin Wall, a relationship is developing between a man and a woman on the opposite sides of a wall in a box of flats in Tallinn. The Man (Guido Kangur) grows cacti and earns a living as a radio repairman. The Woman (Ülle Kaljuste) is an introverted pianist who lives solely for playing the piano pieces of Erik Satie.

A single mother races against time while trying to manage with supporting two children, working, dialy routine and herself when suddenly a mysterious Coach Driver knocks at her door.

Marju, a violinist living in a provincial town and mother of two, tries to face raising her children, everyday routine and inconsolable loneliness. As an instrumentalist playing in an orchestra, she has to work under the guidance of his ex-husband who is the conductor of the orchestra. Her life seems to come to a dead end. One morning, a stranger is standing on her doorstep, calling himself Coach Driver. Marju has to ask herself what can be done with her life.

Johannes Võerahansu (1902 -1980) is one of the most prominent masters of painting in Estonia. He obtained his first exhaustive art education in the legendary Ants Laikmaa's studio school in early 1920s. Võerahansu has shown his work at exhibitions and attracted attention with his drawings; however, he was more intrigued by the art of painting himself. Oma abikaasat meenutab kontsertpianist ja kauaaegne klaveripedagoog Erna Saar. Vanadaam kirjeldab oma tutvumise lugu ja vaimset lähedustunnet endast üle kolmekümne aasta vanema muusikalembese kunstnikuga. See on kahe väljapaistva kunstniku lugu koos veedetud paarikümnest aastast.
